Cite the rulebook

How to state a T&T rule on this site, with its source and a review flag.

Updated

Any sentence about T&T rules or scoring math needs two things:

  1. A :::rule callout that says what the rule is, in plain words, and where it comes from.
  2. A :::review callout until Austin signs it off.

Help pages say which button does what. They don’t teach the rules. Keep the rule to one or two sentences, and send judges to the rulebook for the rest.

The pattern

:::rule[What the rulebook says]
Competitors are scheduled in flights of about 12 athletes or fewer.

**Source:** USA Gymnastics, *Development Program Code of Points: Trampoline* (2025–2029), Section 1, Rule 4.1, page 4.
:::

:::review
Rules statement. Not yet signed off.
:::

It renders like this:

Writing the source line

Write it so a coach or judge can find the rule in their own copy of the PDF:

Source: USA Gymnastics, Document title (edition), Section N, Rule X.Y.Z, page P.

  • Document title, in italics, as printed on its cover: Development Program Code of Points: Trampoline, Development Program Code of Points: Tumbling, Development Program Code of Points: Double Mini, U.S. Elite Code of Points, HUGS Code of Points, or Rules & Policies, Section V, VI or IX.
  • Edition: the cycle, such as 2025–2029.
  • Rule number exactly as printed, and the PDF page number.
  • 2026–27 changes override the 2025–26 text. Cite them as “2026–27 Coaches T210, slide N”.
  • FIG rules: cite the FIG Code of Points: Trampoline Gymnastics (2025–2028) only where the USA Gymnastics rules defer to it.

Look the rule up with the tt-rulebook skill. Never cite a rule from memory or from the code.

When sources disagree

If the app, the code or another document disagrees with the rulebook, don’t pick one in the help. Write what the rulebook says, flag it with :::review, and note the disagreement for Austin.

The example above is one: the rulebook says flights of “approximately 12 athletes or less”, while the scorsync GLOSSARY.md calls 12 a hard maximum, and Meet Builder shows two different capacity numbers (SCO-2047).
